Restoration Technician

RestoTech Solutions

Restoration Technician: Water, Mold & Fire Losses

RestoTech Solutions is a restoration, abatement, and mold remediation company operating across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. When a pipe bursts, a roof fails, or a building floods, we are the crew that shows up.

We are growing quickly and we are looking for Restoration Technicians who take pride in doing the job properly the first time. If you have worked in restoration, abatement, construction, or general labour, or you are ready to learn a trade and grow with us, we want to hear from you.

This is a field position that combines scheduled restoration and abatement work with emergency water response on an on-call rotation.

No IICRC WRT certification? No problem.
We will train and fund you.

What You'll Do

As a Restoration Technician you will be on the front line of emergency water losses and mold remediation projects in homes, condominiums, and commercial buildings. Most days start with a dispatch and end with a property in better shape than you found it.

  • Respond to emergency water losses, including after hours and weekend calls.
  • Perform water extraction, structural drying, and equipment setup and monitoring.
  • Take moisture readings and documenting drying progress daily.
  • Build containment and run negative air and HEPA filtration on mold remediation.
  • Remove and dispose affected materials safely and in line with regulations.
  • Apply antimicrobials and complete detailed cleaning.
  • Photograph and document site conditions, scope, and materials used.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with homeowners, property managers, and adjusters.
  • Keep vehicles, equipment, and inventory clean, stocked, and accounted for.

What We Offer

  • Competitive wages with regular reviews.
  • On call pay.
  • Paid training and certification, including IICRC courses.
  • Company vehicle and equipment for site work while on call.
  • Applied trade skills: carpentry, drywall, flooring, painting, or plumbing put to use on the rebuild, not set aside.
  • Strong operational support from the office and management team. You are not on your own on site.

What You Need

  • Availability for variable hours and for after hours and weekend emergency calls.
  • Ability to work in water damaged and mold affected environments, in crawl spaces, in attics, and at heights, using the required protective equipment and procedures.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly and work a full shift on your feet.
  • Ability to meet the respirator fit test requirement for this role. Accommodation is available on request.
  • Calm, clear communication with clients under stress.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and professional conduct inside a client home.
  • Strong digital and typing skills, with the ability to confidently use computers, tablets, phones, and company software.
  • Attention to detail on documentation. Accurate photos and readings protect the job and the client.

Nice to Have (But Not Required)

  • IICRC certification: WRT, ASD, AMRT, FSRT.
  • Another trade: Carpentry, drywall, flooring, painting, plumbing, or general labour.
  • Safety tickets: Asbestos/mold abatement, Confined Space, Fall Protection, WHMIS, First Aid, or Aerial Lift.
  • Previous restoration, insurance, or emergency services experience.

Candidates without certifications are welcome to apply. We invest in training the right people.

Driver Requirements

Technicians drive RestoTech vehicles, so you must qualify under our commercial automobile insurance policy. These requirements are set by our insurer, not by us. If you do not meet them, we cannot put you on the policy, no matter how good the rest of your application is.

Please read this section before you apply. It is the most common reason an application does not go forward.

To qualify you need:

  • A valid full Class 5 driver licence. Graduated and probationary licences do not qualify.
  • At least three years of clean, continuous, and recent insurance history.
  • No at fault claims in the last five years.
  • A five-year driving abstract showing:
    • No major convictions in the last three years.
    • No more than three minor convictions in the last three years.
  • No criminal convictions in the last three years.

What counts as a major conviction

Distracted driving. Driving without valid insurance. Driving without a valid licence. Excessive speeding, often 50 km/h or more over the limit. Failure to report an accident. Careless or stunt driving offences. Serious school or playground zone violations. Failing to stop for a stop sign or a red light. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. This is not an exhaustive list.

What counts as a minor conviction

Speeding that is not excessive. Failure to obey a traffic sign. Improper lane change. Following too closely. Failure to yield the right of way. Improper turn. Failing to signal a turn or a lane change. Improper backing. Seatbelt infractions. Driving with defective equipment, depending on the circumstances. Failure to carry a driver licence. Failure to produce an insurance card. This is not an exhaustive list.

These requirements come from our insurer and can change. What counts as a major or a minor conviction is interpreted differently between provinces and municipalities, so the final decision rests with the insurer.

Our Hiring Process

Step 1: Prescreen Call (10 to 12 minutes)

We confirm your experience, your availability for emergency response, your comfort with documentation and safety, and your driver eligibility.

Step 2: Interview + Skills Test

An interview with the supervisor, including a 20-minute computer and typing skills test.

Step 3: Conditional Offer & Verification

We verify the driver licence, driving abstract, and insurance history you provided. RestoTech then arranges the criminal record check (including vulnerable sector screening) and the drug and alcohol test.

You do not book the checks yourself.

RestoTech arranges and books the criminal record check and the drug and alcohol test and tells you where and when to attend. Do not arrange either of them independently and do not send us results you obtained on your own. We cannot accept them.

Your offer is conditional on satisfactory results from all verifications. We tell each applicant where they stand at each stage.

Drug and Alcohol Testing

This is a safety sensitive position. Restoration Technicians drive company vehicles, operate power tools and specialized drying and abatement equipment, work at heights and in confined spaces, and work inside occupied homes and multi unit residential buildings alongside coworkers, clients, and members of the public. Impairment while performing this work creates a direct risk of serious injury to you, to your coworkers, and to the people whose homes we are working in, as well as a risk of significant damage to client property.

For that reason, and consistent with our obligations under applicable occupational health and safety legislation and our duty to provide and maintain a safe workplace, all offers of employment for this position are conditional on a satisfactory pre employment drug and alcohol test. Once hired, technicians remain subject to the RestoTech Drug and Alcohol Policy for the duration of their employment, including post incident and reasonable cause testing.

RestoTech accommodates candidates and employees to the point of undue hardship in accordance with applicable human rights legislation, including anyone with a dependence on drugs or alcohol.
